My Name is Joshua Peter Grafstein but you can call me Jashua.
With the initials JPG, it seems that I was destined for a career in digital photography.

I was born in Toronto in the 80’s′s but only spent the first few months of my life in Canada. When I was just a baby my family moved to Highland Park, a suburb outside of Chicago, where my mom grew up. I spent most of my childhood playing around infront of my mom’s camera in her photography studio. Once I entered High School she gave me my first SLR. It was also around this time that I began studying film production, graphic design, and photography at High school. I took photos for the yearbook; wrote, directed and edited short films, photographed my friends bands playing garage shows; and attended summer film production courses at Columbia College and UCLA. I knew from a very early age that I wanted a career in pictures, either as a cinematographer, or as a Concert photographer.

After high school I was very fortunate to have been accepted to the University of British Columbia , and because I am extremely lucky to be a dual citizen of both the United States and Canada, I was able to enroll as a Canadian student at the University of British Columbia. I moved to Vancouver in the fall of 2005 and have been here for almost 10 years. Since moving to Vancouver in 2005, I have made a name for myself as a Concert and Nightlife photographer. In the fall of 2008 I co-founded theFUTURISTS.ca. which started out as a way for me to bring my camera to concerts, night clubs, and hipster parties and turned into a full time gig. It was also around that time that I changed my name on facebook to Jashua because my friends started calling me  “Jashua from Chicaago” and it because an easy way to find me and my work online. Since starting theFUTURISTS in 2008 I have been busy taking photos every weekend. worked with bands, promoters, venues, record labels, and magazines all around Vancouver and the pacific northwest.
